not cool, tv guide fall preview issue, not cool.
Well. Guess there was no photoshoot for Gale & Co. after all.

Vanished is spotlighted, but it's down in the corner, quotes no one but Berman on Eddie, and uses a photo from FOX's old hotel promo shoot. At least the photo includes Gale.

The Buzz: "This kidnapping is part of a larger conspiracy," says creator Josh Berman (CSI). Soon Invasion's Eddie Cibrian will join the cast as a supervising FBI agent. "He's strong, passionate and driven," Berman says, "without the baggage that Kelton carries."

We Say: Though the mystery is intriguing enough, it takes a touch of genius to attain the propulsion of similar shows, like 24.

The Outlook: With Prison Break as a lead-in, Vanished shouldn't be banished too soon.

Lukewarm hope is better than outright dissing it, so that's something. And, well, thank god Eddie's character has no baggage. You know how we viewers just hate a multi-layered character. :|

The second scan is a recap of the show so far to help newbies catch up, the third is the show making it to the Hot List. Oh, and I didn't scan it, as it was just a small box of text, but Matt Roush comments on Monday's lineup with Vanished and CW's Runaway, "THE BIG BATTLE: As two new serialized thrillers go head-to-head, the odds favor Fox's Vanished, which unearths a deadly conspiracy after a senator's wife disappears." And for what it's worth, they don't think Kidnapped will last.

Also, I am v. v. v. v. excited about Studio 60. And Heroes. And The Nine and Ugly Betty and Brothers & Sisters. Cos, y'know, I do not watch enough TV aldkj. HURRY UP, FALL SEASON.

No, I'm sure it is.

Almost.

I hadn't seen it before, but from the hotel lights behind them, just assumed it was an unpublished Fox photo and not a speshul TV Guide one. But now that I look at the original ones, his suit is different!

At least this is more ink than the show received in Entertainment Weekly, where it's conspicuously absent from the Monday night lineup analysis. The only mention of it there is on a programming grid, with a tiny photo of Rebecca Gayheart.

Maybe I am paranoid, but the Berman quote reads a little as though Cibrian is a new, improved version of Kelton, flawed hero.

Oh no. Well. Compared to that, the TV Guide coverage is like a whirlwind of info. Guess EW is more Entertainment Whatever. *sigh*

Then we're both paranoid because I thought the same thing about Cibrian. And I'm still wondering why the hell we "need" him at all.

I keep hoping he's more of a foil for Kelton since I don't sense any pressure from Esai's character. Last week's one-liner about Nathan just made Kelton look more mature than Tyner.

without the baggage that Kelton carries."

It's curious that he's saying that like it's a good thing and we should be excited about it when the truth is that characters with a problematic or just any kind of past are much more interesting since the writers can use it in the future and can also be a reason to understand the way they act on the show.

Welcome! :D And I so hear ya. Baggage is what makes them interesting. I mean, hello, Brian Kinney?

Eddie himself has never thrilled me one way or the other. I'm v. much "whatev" about him as an actor. So, hmn, I don't think I'll have a huge problem with him on Vanished if he's written well and isn't in every. single. scene. My huge problem will come if he's written like a damned Marty Sue. :|

Then I'll be wearing my Kelton!hmph face every Monday.

OMG, fellow WW-er! :D I was freakishly obsessed with that show. I have all the seasons on DVD and am impatiently waiting for S7. ;) Then I got behind on watching eps season before last and never caught up. But I taped all the eps religiously and plan on catching up soon. I heart Josh (and Bradley) so much. And then you add in Matt (my fav Friend and sooo good on WW) and I died from happy, I'm not even kidding. *loves*

We are so gonna squee together when the show premieres. :D

And I just bought my S6 DVDs for West Wing and can't wait for Season 7 to come out. I love that show so much, I cried when it ended.

As FierceDiva said this is a lot better coverage then EW Fall Preview Issue..without a Vanished mention on their Monday night lineup. And the fact that they made the Hot List in TV Guide is good. I'm encourged by the photo of Gale/Kelton.

How many supervisors does Agent Kelton need? Could it possibly be Esai/Tyner that is being replaced? His part was so limited this week. Kelton's Qunatico roommate and Classmate (Cibrian, if that is true) is now his supervisor?

Strong, Passionate, Driven...doesn't that sum up Agent Kelton? with the baggage? And no one does baggage better on-screen then Gale Harold.

[identity profile] url-girl.livejournal.com on September 8th, 2006 10:47 am (UTC)
I was tickled it made the Hot List, too. :D Of course, it's for 21 shows and none of the bigger shows have premiered yet, so it's slim pickin's. Be interesting to see if can hold onto that slot once Lost etc comes back. *fingers crossed*

Tyner doesn't bother me. Every show has "the boss" in the background, and he and Gale seem to work well together, I do like their chemistry, that sense they have a history. I hadn't realized Eddie would be Kelton's boss! (I'd assumed an equal collegue.) That... well, it could be interesting, actually. Assuming they don't screw it up and write his character like a Marty Sue who knows everything while Kelton flounders. I do hope we get some good background on Kelton with Eddie around to possibly provide it.

Exactly. Baggage is good. Gale makes baggage work. Now if they'd just let him really sink his teeth into it...

Hey, that is a new pic of Kelton!Gale. The thing that scares me most about the whole vanished!Gale rumor is the lack of new publicity pics and articles about Gale (compare news about Gale to the explosion - sorry, bad pun - of pictures of and articles about Wentworth Miller who was virtually an unknown before PB). I really hope Gale's next projects will be far more worthy of him and we get to lap him up a little more than we have in the past 3 years. It doesn't have to be a daily fix of new pix; a bi-monthly one will do quite nicely :)

And it looks like that suit actually fits him. ;)

It really is shocking how completely they've pushed him into the background recently. The timing was just too coincidental. :\

hehe.
