the australian open, or how tennis made me cry
I'm so physically/emotionally exhausted right now, I can actually feel myself going cross-eyed as I type. But, yay, am back in town today! I had to leave unexpectedly Sunday, much to my horror cos that meant I'd have to wait DAYS until I got back to watch my Fedal final, argh. So I get in, skip the post-travel nap my body has been begging for all day and go straight to my tape. And now I'm all yay but broken and my nose is stuffed up from crying. That match was INCREDIBLE. Rafa was fierce with a capital F, you guys. But oh, Rogelio!

He broke my heart during that final set and later when he was shoulder-slumped at the net, much less when he started to cry trying to give his speech. But then there Rafa was, cuddling his woobie and making him smile. Forehead lovin', aww. I love my boys so much. They both deserved to win, sigh. I knew watching one of them lose would be torture. :*(

Okay, must sleep now. Promise to catch up on comments/e-mails soon as I can see straight. OH FLIST I MISSED YOU GUYS. :X

I root for Rafa against everyone else in the world but Roger. I triple ::heart:: Roger and I was totally bawling during this presentation. :(((((((((((

I really, really, really want Roger to win two more (just two more! It's so close!) slams and beat the record.

*clings* It was just so gut-wrenching, boobs! He was welling up and I thought he might be able to get through the speech if he did it quick, but he couldn't and then he put words to how it was killing him and just, omg. Floodgates. Poor woobie. :(((((

Also? So relieved you heart him. Cos, okay, I'm still relatively new to all things tennis, as you know, but it still catches me off guard whenever I come across Rogerhate. How is that even possible?! Roger is ♥.

Yes! So close! I really do think he can do it. *firm nod*

*barges in*
So do you prefer serve-and-volley or baseline players? Grass, hard or clay court matches?
I watched a bit of Becker/Edberg, Sampras/Agassi. Then I stopped for years. Fedal rekindles my interest in watching tennis matches (that is, as many as available from local TV stations).

Besides Fedal, I also like Djokovic:)

I enjoy watching Roger play, his swift and elegant moves, his powerful forehand, his childlike but confident smiles. Djokovic loves to imitate his fellow players. Once people asked him to do an impression of Roger. He said: "Roger is too perfect. You cannot imitate him." (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xYA_7RUSarU) Sounds true:)

(Oops, he did it. Did it to Andy Roddick and Rafael and some others, too.) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xYA_7RUSarU)

Though I have a natural tendency to fancy serve-and-volley players, I think lengthy back-and-forth from the baseline with tricky unexpected turns is also great fun to watch.

About Rogerhate - I skip it when I bump into it on youtube. As perfect as he can be, Roger can't win them all. That pretty much says about everyone else.

Sampras used to be my fav tennis player. I have to say when it comes to serve-and-volley, Sampras may be the best. But Roger has an edge - powerful forehand and versatile moves. His backhand is also good.

Enough of my babbling. Thanks for posting Fedal!! Long to see the boys in the next GS finals!
