just call me sporty spice tonight
Know what helps fight Olympics withdrawal? TENNIS OMG. I've been watching the U.S. Open on and off for the first time in my life. I know of a few names (Federer, Roddick, Nadal, Williams sisters), but that's about it. Trying to figure out how scoring worked gave me a mondo headache (SERIOUSLY WTF, TENNIS, STOP BEING DIFFICULT), but I think I've got it down now after a few days. Well, enough to know when to cheer or groan at the appropriate times anyway, heh.

HOW SEXCITING WAS THAT OMG.

I'm so giddy! I was rooting for Gulbis and, yeah, he didn't win, bummer, but, wow, did he put up such a good fight! It was so close, omg. Really exciting game! Actually, this was one of those matches where I would've been happy no matter who won. But I still kept wanting someone in the stands to cheer for Ernests like they were for Andy. And for that one annoying guy who kept yelling variations of "ANDAAAAAY!" to shut up.

Also, there needs to be Roddick/Gulbis slash. I do believe a little blowjob comfort for the loser in that lockerroom is definitely in order. *firm nod*

Know what else helps? Michael being adorkable with the YMCA kids, and the one little girl faking that she wasn't a good swimmer so he'd help her, hahaha! Kid after my own heart.

And there's a Galaxy soccer game tomorrow! Mmm, Beckham and Cronin. Becks better play tomorrow. He and Donovan didn't play last week and I was robbed of my soccer eye candy. Plus, y'know, the little fact that they lost. Again. :|

...I have never talked about sports so much in my life. O.o

Oh! Here's something v. not sporty: OMG BIG GIANT VAN AND BILLY BEING SPESHUL WITHOUT WATERMARKS OF EVOL EEEEEEEEE. This one still kills me. Oh, boys, aldjfa.

GAH TENNIS. FUCK AUSTRALIA FOR NOT BROADCASTING ANYTHING BESIDES THE AUS OPEN AND WIMBLEDON.
I haven't been able to watch any US Open matches this time round cause Aus tv is horrible at this and I'm capped and akhgiahg nothing loads. =_=;;
Roddick & Gulbis? Hm. That pairing has never crossed my mind.

WELL THAT SUCKS. D:

Mine either, until tonight, hee. Of course, before tonight I didn't know one half of that pairing, but still aldfja. So far, I'm valiantly avoiding looking for any tennis slash, having recently already fallen into the swimmer slash pool headfirst aldkj. But the pretty calls to me! I mean, Nadal's shoulders alone deserve fic.

I've been subjected to lots of Nadal/Federer slash. They're pretty much the most popular, too, so D:
There's definitely some Safin/ candy out there which is just oh-so-yummy.

I really miss Andy. I haven't watched any of his matches since he crashed out of Wimby. T_T

I'm a tennis addict so if you have questions about scoring, just ask! There's some really yummy Nadal/Federer photos out there, real photos you just have to add your imagination

Ah! Bless you. Of course I'm blanking right now on just about everything I wanted to ask asdlfaj, but I DO remember one: What does it mean when the scores goes to AD? Like, it'll say AD - Roddick. I'm guessing it's something to do with "deuce" and I know he'll get the point, etc, but darned if I can suss out that "A" part. ;) And thank you for helping!

Considering how hot and sweaty tennis gets, I don't doubt it, hee. Must find. *nods*

SERIOUSLY. So confusing. Just when I think I've got scoring figured out, it'll do the opposite of what I was expecting. D'oh. Good to know I'm not just slow though. ;D

Oh, god. Those legs! Most times I'm all *mmmmm muscles* and other times some guy's Hulk knees will scare me aldja.

Trying to figure out how scoring worked gave me a mondo headache (SERIOUSLY WTF, TENNIS, STOP BEING DIFFICULT),

Just remember, it's all about "love," right? ;) Can you tell I've got no clue, either? ;))

And really, watching pretty men and learning about tennis has got to be better than trying to figure out the brain of McCain... ;DDD!!

LOL! You sound like me. Cracks me up everytime the announcer guy is all 15-love. I mean, how in the world did the word "love" get into tennis aldja. *adds to things I need to Google*

Tennis > McCain. Amen. ;D

Tennis, yay! I rarely enjoy non-Olympics sports, but I've been following tennis pretty consistently for a long time, and I love watching it. The Roddick/Gulbis match was great.

Aww, Phelps helping the kids. (He needs to be able to go home and sleep for a while, sjdkfha.)

It always bored me before, but I think that was mostly my getting impatient with not knowing how the scoring worked. Now I'm on-board and loving eeet. :D

Seriously, yo. I fangirl every time I see a new mention of him or whatever, but then I feel guilty aldkjfa, cos, wow, let the guy get some sleep. :P

The most important thing to know about tennis scoring is that break points are v.v. important and that having your serve broken (meaning the other player wins the game that you were serving) is bad. Players have to win a set by two games, so getting the break means you're in the position to win the set.

I could talk about tennis all day, but I'll spare you. Oh, and you might enjoy my book (http://www.loose-id.net/detail.aspx?ID=306) if you haven't read it. :D

Okay, I can totally see how that'd be a big deal now, especially having seen how some players have these wicked fast serves that win points without the other guy even getting to like, hit the ball. O.O (Is that what they call an ace?)

Don't stop on my account! I so want to read your tennis posts now that I kindasortaalittlebit know what you're talking about now. ;D OMG BOOBS TENNIS BOOK. My kingdom for a credit card. ♥♥♥♥

Aww, ILU2! What can we say? We have most awesome taste. ;D

Phelps adsfalj. He takes me to my happy place. Oh, oh! I was just reading that he's using that bonus million dollars from Speedo to start his own charity for youth swimming. “Now, my goals reach beyond the pool, to helping others realize their dreams, and continuing to grow the sport I love so much,” Phelps said in a statement. HOW MUCH DO I LOVE HIM. MP: Thinking of the children. :X

dang, he's such a sweetheart! you heard of him giving an interview to a 12-year-old girl? During one stop there was this huge crowd of journalists all looking for an interview, but I only had time for one - so I gave it to a 12 year old girl with a mic who was doing her first interview ever. She scooped all the pros!

askdja kill me now ♥
