scott talks reunion stuffs

August 6, 2007: Yes, all of those rumors about a QAF reunion are true! Here's the scoop direct from Scott:

Showtime® is putting out all 5 seasons in one ginormous Box set (29 Discs I believe) in time for X-mas. As a special incentive for people to buy it the shot a Special Feature reunion lunch. The format was very much like Jon Favreau's "Dinner with 5" and was hosted by the wonderful comedian/super fan Ant. Everyone was there except Gale (who had a family emergency) and Randy (who is working up at the Berkshire Theatre Festival) and it was a lot of fun.

There is no confirmed release date yet, except that it will be sometime in November. This site will be updated when more information is available.

Um, so, that's the only extra? WHY FOR YOU SO LAZY/CHEAP, COWLIP. :| :| :| Maybe that's the only one Scott knows about/was a part of and there really is more. *hopeful* What gets me is the reunion alone would indeed have been enough incentive to buy this for most fans if G/R had been there. Completely understand about Gale and, really, not like they ever expected Randy to show, so no need to clear their schedule around his plays, but STILL.

Also, I heart Scott. Just saying. ;)

Also also, I heart you, flist. Will be answering all the lovely comments on my *OMG513:(((* post asap.

ETA: Another thing I'm curious about: How they're going to sell the reunion on the box art. I don't see them putting a big ole flashy "Um, except Gale. Oh, yeah, and Randy." disclaimer to their "BONUS: QAF REUNION WITH THE CAST!" listing. In which case, there's going to be some pissed off people when they buy this hoping to see G/R.

Do they really think that many fans will buy this? *lol* I mean, most of us already have the DVDs and that little reunion dinner video w/o G/R isn't anything we really want to see, eh?! ;)

Frankly, even without that family emergeny for Gale, I would have never expected him to show up there. Same goes for Randy, of course. *g*

Truthfully, me either. Though I do wish we could've seen how things would've played out without the family emergency as a factor. Even if we already mostly know, heh.

I don't actually watch extras anyway... except the 107 extended scene, LOL. I've never watched most of the extras on the DVDs I have. I would buy this just to have one prisine copy of all five seasons. Mine are a bit battered.

I'm actually kinda relieved because I already have all the DVDs and don't want to buy them again LOL. In fact, I wonder if they'll include the regular bonus features at all. With The X-Files, they released some cheaper DVD sets after the regular ones but the cheaper sets had no bonus features. And a regular-priced ginourmous boxset of S1-5 QAF would be like $500 so errr... I'm really curious what it will be.

I hadn't even thought of that. They better keep their regular bonus stuff! If not, it'd be cheaper for the casual viewer to probably just buy the individual seasons. :\

Hmm, good question. I'm guessing it'll be around $200-300, then minus some for a big sale at Amazon etc. Then again, we're talking SHO here. Cable seems to think their sets are made of gold. :|

Seriously, Has CowLip ever watched the show? Are they at all aware who the two most loved and cherished characters ~~were~~ ARE!? ( ps I love Hal but theres no shortage of him out and about )
Okay, so like Randy never would have shown up unless Gale promised him copious blowjobs but I would have at least considered it if Gale had been there. I wonder if he had plans to come though they were thwarted? hmmm.

I wonder if anyone at 'Showtime' actually believe the fans will buy the entire set using a G/R-less reunion as incentive. No one is that stupid.

There will definitely be some buying regardless. If money wasn't an issue, I would. I'm ~~anal~~ a completest like that. And having it released in time for cmas gifts is a smart move. But, yeah, I do hope they're planning on something else added with the reunion. Like bloopers that include THE WHOLE CAST. Something.

I have to say that I love Scott, too...but not enough to spend the money on an ADDITIONAL set of all 5 seasons just to most of the cast chat at dinner. Especially when the two I'd buy it for weren't there. To be honest, while I understand Gale absence, I would hope that they would have scheduled a separate interview/chat time with him a couple of other local cast members. I would actually question whether he had agreed in the first place, but...who knows???

I doubt that G or R would attend if they were in L.A. at the time and were very hungry for lunch - eating out of the dumpster hungry. I can't beleive that anyone would buy the DVD just to watch Cowlip pat themselves on the back.

The only way that this DVD would interest me is if he had outtakes of one very beautiful couple's wedding.

Gale's stepmother was killed in a terrible auto accident and his father was injured..It happened right in front of their Georgia home. The car rolled down an embankment and the father was pinned and the step-mother ejected, then the car rolled over her. The obit was posted on some Yahoo sites.
I would guess that would be reason enough for him not to show for the so-called reunion.
They would have to change the ending to get me to buy it.

I'm of the opinion that Gale and Randy would've never shown, no matter when the thing was scheduled. The words "Bite me," come to mind when I imagine Randy's response.

And given what C/L did to S4-5 of the show, I can't see giving them any money at all. That's lining the pockets of the people who ignored the fans then and will probably ignore the fans now by being disingenuous about who's included in the reunion DVD.

The more I think about it... can you just imagine if they actually would've shown at the "reunion"? Gale would be sitting there, stoned out of his mind and alternating between uncontrollable giggling and then trying to stay awake. Randy would be all *hates the world* and trying to shoot daggers from his eyes. You know neither would talk much, voluntarily, since it was like pulling teeth to get more than 2 words out of them for the other interviews.

Still I would've loved to see it.

What a heartbreaking tragedy for the Harold family. I had no idea that this had even happened until I saw this link.

Do you know when the reunion dinner was filmed? *just curious*

With all that I've read about the ending of the show I doubt that they would have shown up no matter when it was filmed. Which is a shame for their fans but speaks volumes about their feelings for CowLip. They've both been publically supported in their endeavors from most of the other cast members, which is a wonderful thing for them. IMO, it means that there's still some love from them associated with qaf since they are still so supportive of one another.

I have all five seasons and like everyone else says, it would have to be pretty damn special for me to think about selling what I have in order to raise money for the new box set!

I heart Scott, too :D

I can't wait to see the promotions they are going to do for this set.Why would true fans buy this if Gale/Randy are not prominently featured...to hear Hal talk?I don't think so.Why would other people buy it since the show hasn't been on the air for two years.Unless Showtime is thinking about airing the show again.
I own all five seasons already.So there is really no need for me to spend the extra money(hubby told me he would get it for me for xmas if I really wanted it).There have to be tons of extras,deleted scenes(Brian/Justin),maybe new ending(a girl can dream),for me to think of getting it.

Ah, but that's the thing. Being a B/J fan isn't the only requisite for being a true fan. ;) There are definitely fans of the show who liked the show as an ensemble piece or liked other pairing or actor or never did buy all the seasons. etc. I myself have all the seasons, but if I had the money, I would actually buy the new set. I'm a completist like that. ;) Of course, having G/R and a butt-load of extras sure wouldn't hurt my feelings. ;D

I don't think many people will buy this. The real fans already have the DVDs, and who cares about a socalled reunion without the real stars.
