• *happy place* ellyrianna wrote the most perfect cancer!fic for meeeee over at qaf_giftxchnge. It's full of these perfect moments that are quietly sweet and painful and real and raw and perfectly in-character and I do so love her Brian and Justin. Have I mentioned it's perfect? ♥ Maybe by tomorrow I'll stop rereading it and actually read some of the other stuff there. Maybe!

• Do I look freaked out and desperate? Cos I've been without internet and Kinney for three days. I swear I'm like a baby monkey now, clinging to LJ like it's my momma. IT WAS SUCH A DARK PERIOD IN MY LIFE, PEOPLE. So I braved the real world and spent lots of time at the beach applying sunscreen (sadly only to my own body) and even went to the prettypretty botanical gardens


Ahh, yes. The comb-over tree. The garden is v. sensitive about that thinning field.


And that's when my nature photography career crashed and burned after all of about 10 minutes. Woe. Cos that's when this snake -- I called him El Diablo the rest of the day -- came slithering out right in front of me as I walking and I was so startled, I immediately burst into tears. He slithered around for A LONG time about three feet from me, but this pic is of El Diablo's ass as he was slithering back to Mrs. Diablo cos it took me that long to remember I had a camera, much less how to operate it. OMGSCARY.


Poppies! There was this WHOLE FIELD of 'em. ♥ I snapped this photo and then ran. I am not the only one who loves zee poppies. Just ask all the bees. :\ Later when I was leaving that day, there was a small film crew in the field. No idea what that was about, but I did hang around long enough to find out neither Gale nor Randy were running toward each other in the poppy field while cameras rolled. Not that I daydream about that happening. Or have started a pastede on hed to that effect.


The Redwood section! It was bloody hot that day, but soon as you made it to these steps to go down, there was this awesome breeze and, guuuuh. So pretty. And that handrail? I never let go. Steps with roots and rocks in them + clumsy!Ree holding a camera = o.O


Looking up at one of the huge trees. I stood there for the longest time. Also, I imagine this is much the view Brian has when he's lying in bed, looking under the sheets at Brian Jr. ;) One day I'm gonna make it to the Redwood forest up north again. I haven't been since I was, like, ten. This one is teeny compared to those!
