UPDATE: First word was not promising, when we told you things don't look too good for the supposedly recuperating but "majorly injured" Desperate Housewives star Gale Harold to be returning to work soon.

But things may not be quite as grim as we reported.

Here's the original scoop from Wisteria Lane involving motorcycle accident victim Harold, who's recovery may not be as speedy as people think.

How so? Well...

"He's really very majorly injured," remarked a source close to both Harold and the Desperate Housewives set. "I don't believe he'll be coming back."

When we contacted Desperate Housewives central, there was no comment regarding the too sad news. However, other sources close to the production (whom creator Marc Cherry just surprised the merde outta by announcing—and which we broke—that he wants to stay around for seasons eight and nine), told us, "We have an open door for Gale" to return.

Harold's rep insisted there's nothing to be concerned with regarding her client: "He is fine. Your source is wrong," the publicist stated. When asked to elaborate on exactly what Harold's condition is and whether or not the supernice stud is headed back to Wisteria Lane, she refused comment.

I hear that door ain't gonna be swingin' for some time. Heal fast, Gale, we miss ya!

There's a lotta dish being slung right now regarding Gale Harold's health, as well as his status on Desperate Housewives. We just ran quotes from D.H. sources who doubt Gale's capability to return to filming the hit soap, but now we've discovered there's at least a glimmer of hope:

He's looped some scenes recently.

So that's terrific news—he was able to physically get himself to the set, even though it wasn't easy:

"He's still in a tremendous amount of pain," revealed an insider who's hung with the hunk recently. "He doesn't even remember a lot of what happened to him, and his shoulder's really hurting him right now, but I think he will be back next season, in some form."

As we stated before, Desperate sources unofficially made it clear they'll be happy to have Gale back in any form. Us too!

Considering we just had Gale himself say he'd be back + report that he'd already done a voiceover + Scott's "miraculous" healing quote + Marc Cherry repeatedly saying he's keeping Gale's job open for him, I'm mostly *waves dismissing hand* about it all.

Though the "tremendous amount of pain" thing has me sadfacing. Hopefully the medical ganja is helping there, heh, assuming it's true. No doubt the recent cold weather here isn't feeling real good to the shoulder. That sucker has to ache. But it didn't keep him from the theatre or a little work on set, so that's gotta be good news. Right? Right. *firm nod*
